CANADA
GREENER HOMES GRANT

Greenbrain offers comprehensive home energy evaluations through our team of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) certified energy advisors.

Our team of advisors will help you determine how to best save energy in your home to help decrease energy costs, ensure safety and make your home more comfortable all year round.

WHAT IS THE CANADA GREENER HOMES GRANT?

The Government of Canada is now offering a FREE home energy evaluation and up to $5,000 toward the cost of eligible upgrades, through the Canada Greener Homes Grant. With buildings, including our homes, now accounting for 18% of Canada's greenhouse emissions, this initiative aims to make where we live more energy efficient, and consequently more comfortable and affordable.

As a licensed NRCan service organization, our team of Certified Energy Advisors are ready to help make the process easy to understand and impactful. Home Energy Audits are designed to provide a deeper look into your home and provide an EnerGuide evaluation that is easy to understand, as well as expert advice on which upgrades will make the biggest impact on your energy costs.

To learn more about this initiative, visit the NRCan website.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

STEP 1 - Register for and complete the EnerGuide Energy Pre-Evaluation with one of Greenbrain's certified Energy Advisors to identify the greatest impact areas in your home. This includes receiving a completed, customized EnerGuide report on your home's energy performance. Note that all homeowners must first sign-up for the grant on the NRCan website.

STEP 2 - Complete the suggested upgrades such as insulation, heating system, windows and doors, using a certified contractor. Evaluation reports will help detail the savings associated with all potential upgrades, and homeowners can choose what works best for their own budget and lifestyle.

STEP 3 - Book your post-retrofit evaluation with your Greenbrain Energy Advisor to calculate the impact of the improved energy efficiency of your home.

STEP 4 - Receive your rebate after applying for reimbursement by entering your information onto the HomeOwner Portal on the NRCan website.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR HOME ENERGY EVALUATION

Greenbrain's Certified Energy Advisor (CEA) will examine your home to determine its existing energy efficiency and indentify areas for improvement to your home's overall efficiency and comfort. This evaluation will include a thorough examination of each room in the home, and may consist of a blower-door test to determine any air leakages.

Areas of improvement may include:

  • Heat loss (and air leaks)

  • Heating and cooling issues

  • Insufficient insulation

  • Poor air quality

  • Dampness and mold

  • Areas for additional health concerns

The Energy Advisor will then provide you with a comprehensive report of the areas of improvement found in your home, complete with an Energy Rating and specific areas of action to improve the efficiency and comfort of your home.
