The City of Toronto’s Home Energy Loan Program (HELP) provides low interest financing of up to $125,000 for eligible home energy improvements. Payments are made conveniently through your property tax bill, and the loan remains with the property instead of the homeowner if the home is sold.

Benefits include:

• Low interest rates with repayment terms of up to 20 years

• Avoid large upfront costs and pay for home energy improvements over time, often while benefiting from energy savings

• Convenient repayment through installments on your property tax bill

• The loan is attached to the property, not the homeowner. If the property is sold, the remaining balance transfers to the new owner

Upgrades eligible for HELP financing include:

• Air sealing (e.g. weather stripping or caulking)

• Air-source heat pumps

• Basement / attic / exterior wall insulation

• Battery storage

• Drain-water heat recovery systems

• Electric vehicle charging stations

• Geothermal systems

• High-efficiency furnaces / boilers / air conditioners

• High-efficiency water heaters

• Rooftop solar PV panels

• Solar hot water systems

• Tankless water heaters

• Toilet replacements

• Window / door replacements

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be in the City of Toronto (postal code starts with “M”)

• All owners on title must agree

• Property tax/utility accounts in good standing

• Written mortgage lender consent if applicable

• Complete upgrades
