How the Points System Works

MLI Select uses a point system to offer insurance incentives based on affordability, energy efficiency, and accessibility. The more committed you are to social and environmental outcomes, the better the incentives. A minimum of 50 points is required to qualify. 

Points are earned across three pillars:

• Energy Efficiency: Buildings that outperform energy benchmarks earn up to 35 points. A 25% improvement in energy consumption and GHG emissions earns 30 points.

• Affordability: Units priced below market or income-based thresholds earn additional points

• Accessibility: Barrier-free design and accessible unit features contribute to the score
